Following the launch in early July for Android users, PUBG Mobile India's version of Indianised Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) is now ready to be launched on the Apple iOS platform soon, the company's chief executive confirmed on Saturday.
Wooyol Lim, Head of Battlegrounds Mobile Division at a South Korean sports company Krafton said developers are doing their best to bring BGMI to iOS users in India as soon as possible. "We will soon be making announcements on our social media platforms to keep our fans updated," Lim told IANS.
BGMI, which re-introduced itself after the PUBG ban in the country last year, saw a peak of 16 million daily active users and 2.4 million users in India. “Our main focus is to continue to deliver more inclusive content, world-class collaboration, and India-specific content,” Lim said.
When asked if BGMI is a toned-down version of PUBG, Lim said the game is being run by Krafton, a completely independent organization in South Korea. "Krafton will continue to present items and items that reflect the culture and needs of the area at Battlegrounds Mobile India including clothing and events specifically for India".
IBGMI also reminds its players to take a break if they play too long, which could upset many players. However, Lim said providing a safe game experience is very important for the company.
"We are great advocates for the right games, and steps have been taken to ensure that our fans understand that the battlefields are a real world and that the playing time limits are set correctly, with OTP controls provided to parents," Lim said.
In mid-July, Krafton announced their first sports tournament - Battlegrounds Mobile India Series 2021. Registration for the tournament started on July 19 and the event will have five stages lasting three months. The video game developer has announced the Rs 1 crore prize pool for this first series.
