According to rumours from June, Huawei had decided not to release another flagship after the P50 series, which debuted in July. Due to both the US-Huawei prohibition and supply chain difficulties, it was claimed and strongly suspected that Huawei would not be launching a complete Mate series.
According to a new source from a DSCC (Display Supply Chain Consultants) senior specialist, the Mate series flagship will still be released in Q4 of this year. Huawei will debut the Mate 50 series in October, according to expert Davin Naranjo (via Fast Technology
Huawei is holding a global launch event on October 21 at 3 p.m. in Vienna, Austria. We were under the notion that Huawei would debut the P50 series for global markets outside of China, despite the fact that the firm hasn't specified which smartphone it wants to launch in October.
Last week's teaser revealed a device that appears to be the P50 Pro, but the report casts doubt on whether it is part of Huawei's future Mate series. Closer analysis reveals that the camera hump in the current teaser's lowest point is above the volume rocker, which does not match the P50 series, leading us to believe this is a different phone entirely
Regardless of whether it arrives or not, a new Mate series' availability may be limited. We don't know which reports to believe at this point. We'll have to wait until October 21 to find out what Huawei has in store for global markets.
Outside of the recent teaser, not much is known about the Mate Series' style and design, but we're expecting a camera configuration similar to or better than the Huawei P50 series. Qualcomm chips are also a possibility, as Huawei was able to ship the vanilla P50 variant with the Snapdragon 888.
