The second iteration of Microsoft's Surface Duo smartphone was released on 22-09-2021. On paper, the new Surface Duo 2 fixes many of the flaws of the previous generation and is a far more complete offering, especially given the price point.
The new Surface Duo 2 has dual 5.8-inch AMOLED displays with a resolution of 1892x1344 that combine to make an 8.3-inch display with a resolution of 2688x1892. Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protects the display, which can achieve 800 nits of brightness.
The bump up to 90Hz for smoother scrolling is a new feature on this device. When the smartphone is folded, the curves are visible from the outside and illuminate to signify notifications.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor, 128/256/512GB of storage, and 8GB of LPDDR5 memory are all included in the new Surface Duo 2. The latest model comes pre-installed with Android 11.
The back camera has been upgraded to a triple lens set. It now has a 12MP f1.7 wide-angle lens, a 12MP f2.4 2x telephoto lens, and a 16MP f2.2 ultra-wide lens. You may also record video at up to 4K 60 frames per second or 1080p 240 frames per second.
The Surface Duo 2 also works with the new Surface Slim Pen 2, which can be charged by magnetically attaching it to the device's exterior. The Surface Duo 2's 4449mAh battery does not allow wireless charging, but it does come with a 23W USB-C fast charger, which you must purchase separately.
The Surface Duo 2 has a starting price of $1500 and is currently available for pre-order. It's available in Glacier and a new Obsidian hue.
