To keep the Snapdragon 870 cool, the Realme GT Neo2 will use a thermal paste with diamonds

The Snapdragon 870-powered Realme GT Neo2 will be officially announced tomorrow, September 22. The chipset is already cooler than the 888, but the business has devised a sophisticated cooling method to keep it within the proper temperature range.

The GT Neo2 will be the world's first smartphone with diamond thermal paste. When you hear the word "diamond," you typically think of its hardness, but it also refers to its incredible thermal conductivity.

It has a thermal conductivity of up to 2,000 W/m-K, which may not seem like much based on what you remember from physics class, but it is 5 times higher than silver's thermal conductivity. Silver has also been found in some of the most popular thermal pastes.

Don't think there are diamond engagement rings hidden inside the phone. These are minuscule industrial diamonds with a diameter of 40-50 m that help boost heat dissipation by 50-60% above standard solutions. A video presentation is provided below.

Only Chinese subtitles are available, so here's a quick rundown of what you're about to witness. Diamond, metal, and plastic square sheets are used to cut through a frozen moon cake (at -5oC/23oF). The cake is placed at an angle against the sheets to avoid applying too much pressure; the sheets only cut into the cake as it melts and softens. Heat is transferred from the fingers to the moon cake when they touch the diamond sheet with their bare hands, speeding up the melting process.

This begins about the 2:30 mark. The heat transport is shown using an infrared camera. Remember that blue/green indicates a lower temperature; you can see how rapidly the diamond square changes from red (room temperature) to the hue of the moon cake, demonstrating the heat transfer speed.

The Samsung E4 panel on the Realme GT Neo2 will have a 120 Hz display with 600 Hz touch sampling rate, a 5,000 mAh battery with 65W fast charging (full charge in 36 minutes), 11 antennas for 360o coverage, Dolby Atmos stereo speakers, and a 64 MP camera. Tomorrow will bring pricing and other details.
