It's no news that a follow-up to the critically acclaimed battle royale PUBG is already in development. The game, dubbed PUBG 2, has been rumoured for quite some time and is slated to release next year if all goes according to plan. It should be noted, however, that Krafton has yet to formally announce such a title.
On Twitter, a well-known PUBG leaker known as Player IGN has revealed a few fresh details about the creation of what could be a completely new PUBG game, probably PUBG 2. The game is reportedly being developed on Epic Games' Unreal Engine 5.
According to player IGN, the team contemplated upgrading from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5 a few months ago, according to internal sources.
Now, we don't know for sure if this Unreal Engine 5 game is PUBG 2, and until Krafton confirms it, everything is just speculation and rumour, so take everything with a grain of salt.
If this is accurate, however, upgrading to Unreal Engine 5 would allow the development team to add some amazing next-gen features like Nanite, the engine's new geometry system, and Lumen, the engine's new lighting feature, which would make PUBG 2 appear absolutely stunning.
