Today, Realme organised an event in India to announce the launch of two new smartphones: the Realme 8s 5G and the Realme 8i. The two midranger models have Mediatek chipsets, large batteries, and Dynamic RAM Expansion, which allows you to dump sections of RAM onto the storage to increase capacity.
Realme 8s 5G
The Realme 8s 5G is the world's first smartphone to feature the Dimensity 810 SoC. It has an octa-core CPU that runs at up to 2.4GHz and a Mali-G57 GPU. There are two LPDDR4X RAM options - 6GB and 8GB - and 128GB of storage, which can be expanded via the dedicated microSD card.
While the photographs make it appear that the Realme 8s 5G has four cameras on the rear, there are only three - the fourth hole is only a sticker with AI on top of it. The main camera has a 64-megapixel sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, while the other two have 2-megapixel sensors, one of which is B&W for portrait photographs and the other for macro shots up to 4 cm.
A 6.5-inch LCD with a punch hole for the 16-megapixel selfie camera sits on the front of the iPhone 8s 5G. Full HD+ resolution is available on the 90Hz screen. A 5,000 mAh battery with 33W charging capabilities via the USB-C connector is found under the hood, and Realme includes the necessary adaptor in the retail package.
Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.1, all of the prominent 5G bands, and navigation protocols are all available as connectivity options. The operating system is Android 11 with Realme UI 2.0 on top.
The Realme 8s 5G will be available in two colours: Universe Blue and Universe Purple. Depending on the storage, prices range from INR17,999 ($245/€205) to INR19,999 ($270/€230), with Flipkart offering a discount of up to INR6,000 through its Smart Upgrade programme. The first sale will take place on September 13 at 12 p.m. IST.
Realme 8i
The Realme 8i has a Helio G96 chipset and will be the first device to use Mediatek's new platform.
The 12nm chipset is paired with 4GB or 6GB of RAM, as well as 64/128 GB of storage that can be expanded via a microSD slot.
The Realme 8i's display is a large 6.6-inch LCD with Full HD+ resolution and 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage. It's the first phone in its pricing range to include a 120Hz Smooth Display rate with granular controls.
There's a 50MP f/1.8 main camera on the back, as well as 2MP f/2.4 B&W and 2MP f/2.4 macro auxiliary cameras. The battery capacity is also 5,000 mAh, but charging is restricted to 18W. At the very least, the right charger is included in the box once more.
The Realme 8i comes in two colours: Space Black and Space Purple. INR13,999 ($190/€160) for the 4/64 GB model, and INR15,999 ($215/€185) for the 6/128 GB model. On September 14, one day after the Realme 8s 5G, this phone will be released. Both smartphones will be sold on Flipkart, Realme's own shop, and traditional retailers, in addition to Flipkart.
